Media Kit
The Quilting Room with Mel was born in February 2015. Mel had her husband Paul join her to bring more in-depth posts about the repair and history of vintage sewing machines. Together they have carved out a corner of the internet for quilters and vintage sewing machine enthusiasts alike. Mel loves to update her grandmother's quilting patterns saved from 1930s newspapers. Paul enjoys sharing his mechanical knowledge so others can continue to use vintage and antique sewing machines. The Quilting Room's readers enjoy making quilts of all sizes, bags, home decor including wall hangings, pillows, table runners, and place mats.

Meet Mel & Paul
About Mel - Mel has been working with fabric since she was a small child. Coming from a family of quilters Mel quickly figured out that staying on top of color trends in home design set her family's quilts apart from others. When designing Mel believes that the fabric will tell you what it wants to be and you should listen! She has eclectic tastes and loves everything from mid-century mod to classic farmhouse and everything in between! Mel wants to make sure her favorite quilt patterns from the past stay relevant in today's quilting world. Playing with scale, color choice and placement, and using those blocks in things other than quilts opens others to the possibilities of quilts outside of the bedroom. Mel enjoys tweeting and watching HGTV home reno shows, wandering antique shops, drinking good coffee, and listening to music.

About Paul - Paul had always had an interest in sewing. Paul bought the first vintage machine of their now extensive herd, a Necchi Lydia. He wanted to sew but wouldn't use either Mel's machines for free he would break them. After knocking his machine out of time and fixing it, he realized many of the skills he had acquired over the years as a HVAC/R tech could be applied to older sewing machines. Soon he realized that he could use his skills as a trainer to help others fix their machines as well. Paul enjoys the outdoors, photography, wandering antique shops, drinking good coffee, and giving Mel a hard time about her music tastes.
